You sound like you’re annoyed by that behavior. The dog is paying you a compliment.
When a dog lies down and intentionally puts part of its body in contact with you it’s an indication that dog thinks you’re a special person. Maybe you’re the dog’s alpha or someone the dog thinks will protect it from danger. It’s an act of bonding and is something we dog owners invite and value in their dogs.
Dogs are often very subtle about doing this. Sometimes you don’t even realize it until you or your dog have changed positions.
If it still annoys you, get a goldfish.
Because dogs are pack animals, and they LOVE to be near you, touching you.
Dogs show their love in many ways. As a dog owner, there is nothing more I liked than having my golden snuggle with me at the end of a bad day….
Your dog wants to be touching you because it is comforting to him. He is a pack animal and needs to feel you close by.
It is also a sign of love and devotion to you. AND, your dog is telling you he totally trusts you, because when snuggled next to you, he is vulnerable!
You sound like it bothers you. I hope not. It is one of the joys of owning a dog 🙂
