You think, bless your heart, that the rest of the world sees Trump as the problem and when Trump goes away, the problem will go away and all will return to normal.
Nope
Trumpnis just a symptom of the problem. The problem America is at its core a fascist, racist, uneducated, violent nation. This goes all tge way back in US history to the era of the Pilgrims, who were bascially kicked out of Europe for ot.
All Trump did was remove the thin layer of respectability and let the fundamental character of the USA shine through.
Fix that and you will will be able to sit at the adult table once again with the nations of the world.
But it will take a couple of generations ti do so, and right now you are going in the wrong direction.
Trump v1 was an embarrassment to the US and a laughing stock to the rest of the world. The rest of the world was relieved when Trump was held to one term and replaced with a sane elder statesman like Biden. The rest of the world assumed that the American electorate learned its lesson and started to re-engage with the US.
Then the electorate put Trump in office a second time!
It seems they did not learn their lesson, or they did, and they liked it. Either way, the US has become a horrible hostile pariah state that the rest of the world would rather have nothing to do with.
Also, Trump learned a lot from his first term. 2nd time around he is doing a LOT more damage.
Once Trump is gone, it will take a LONG time for the US to regain its stature in the world, because the people wo RE-ELECTED Trump will still be out there, and the rest of the world will be worried about when the next Trump will come along.
Do you know what New Gingrich said was the most important lesson that the USA had learnt during the 20th century?
He said it was “That we need to identify and neutralize our enemies”.
And I said that if you go out into the world with the attitude that you need to find enemies, you will find that there is no shortage.
Incidentally, if you go out in the world trying to find friends, you will likewise find a plentiful supply.
It’s like in the old story. Two families moved into neighbouring houses from different towns. The first one met one of their new neighbours from across the street, and asked how people in this town were. The old-timer asked how people had been in their old town. They replied that they had been kind and generous people, and got the opinion that “You will probably find that they are much the same here.”
The second one met the same person only minutes later, and asked the same question. The got the same question in return, and replied that in their old neighbourhood, they had found the townspeople to be unkind people, given to slander and unwilling to do others any favours. The verdict? “You will probably find that they are much the same here.”
USA has now gone out into the world assuming everyone to be their enemy.
USA found that they were. Had they instead gone out into the world assuming that everyone was potentially their friend, they would have been.
