It is really a junk fighter .
•A junk fighter which is lightest and the smallest fighter jet in the world.
•A junk fighter which is so reliable that it flew 1500 sorties without a single crash.
• A junk fighter which can fly at a speed of 1975.68 km per hour.
• A junk fighter which is made up of 45 % carbon fibre composites by weight and 95% by surface area.
• A junk fighter whose carbon fibre composites reduce its weight and make it partially stealthy as well.
• A junk fighter which can land on a 95 m landing runway on INS Vikramaditya.

• A junk fighter which prompted US air force chief to fly it.
• A junk fighter whose delta wing configuration gives it a better manueverability.
• A junk fighter which is cost-effective yet capable

•A junk fighter which is so versatile that it has both air force and carrier variant and still can be developed into Tejas mk2.
• A junk fighter which is best in its class.

PEACE..
From India’s Perspective ADA/HAL Tejas is surely a best aircraft ,

- Compare to SAAB Gripen/Rafale or any other fighter jet Tejas is surely a better aircraft in terms of ownership and reliability wise because the complete design of the aircraft is Indian. In-terms of capabilities it will get there in some time sooner because of the efforts by its developers to rope in private industries also for its future variants.l see the following points as encouraging signs.
- Fuselages and wings for ongoing production lots were offloaded to private entities like L&T
- Indegious uttam radar showing good progress and it will be first fitted to one of the Tejas family aircraft.
- HAL said they will rope in Indian private industries as much as possible in future to increase the production rate and also to add additional capabilities to the fighter.
- ASTRA BVRAAM going to intergerated with Tejas.
- Next version of Tejas going to get onboard oxygen generator and integrated EW and electronics counter measures system.
- More to come…..
- The cockpit of the Tejas is tailor made for Indian pilots with their valuable inputs which is not the case with other fighter aircrafts.
- Because of some design elements the maximum speed of Tejas is limited to 1.8 mach as compare to Gripen’s mach 2 although both uses the variants of same GE F404 engine.
- Weapon carrying capability is also decent(more or less 3 tons or 3000kg) for its role.
- Cost-wise Tejas is very cheap to own when considering complete ownership cost .Tejas prices has been considerably reduced(nearly 10k crore for 83 MK IA version) as a result of defense ministry’s tough negotiation with HAL.
- Infinite number of times Tejas can be upgraded without anyone’s permission where as with Gripen, Swedish SAAB’s node is required and same is the case with other foreign developed aircrafts.
- Mass induction of Tejas will create a whole military aviation ecosystem in India which will make the development of India’s future AMCA easier.
- Although Tejas may lag to some extent on the avionics front but that can be easily overcome considering this is first version entering services and there will lot more evolution about to come in that front.
- Once Indian companies are confident on designing various aircraft systems and test them with Tejas, there will be a healthy partnership between Public and private companies which will led to faster development of not only military aircrafts but also UAVs and civilian aviation sectors. for that purpose Tejas project becomes a springboard of the shorts!!
- Once the Tejas MK-1A as promised by HAL is delivered to IAF, it will become one of the agile fighter.
- Finally the Tejas is created with the sole requirement to replace Indian Airforce vintage soviet MiG-21 jets and it does that job comfortably. just compare the capabilities of MiG-21 and Tejas you will come to know.

Tejas flying in formation with a pair of MiG-21s
Tejas can carry most of the weapons in Indian inventory where MiG 21 can carry some limited types of missiles and bombs…
- Compare to Mig-21 Tejas has
- Superior Radar
- It has a reliable engine.
- To some extent it has a s type air in-take so the engine blades are not directly exposed to radars.
- Its Avionics are latest and tailor made for IAF pilots etc…
