A lot of these answers are from people who know absolutely nothing about the platform.
I see people saying they’re guaranteed to make 6 figures a year from adsense, and another 6 figures from sponsorships. I LAUGHED OUT LOUD!
Do you know how many YouTubers with over 5 million subscribers make little to nothing every year?
Here’s the secret, SUBSCRIBERS DON’T MAKE YOU MONEY!
I’ve seen channels with 10 million subscribers get 1 million views in a month. You only get paid for the VIEWS. Even then, not all 1 million views are going to get you money. About half those views will be gone due to YouTube demonetizing your video because it doesn’t fit there stupid guidelines, another fraction will be cut due to some small company claiming your videos due to “copyright infringement” which you will never win against.
It’s all about the views. Views is what gets you money.
Typically 1,000,000 views will generate you anywhere from $500–$6,000. Its a big gap, I know. It’s a huge gap due to many factors such as how long the video is, if it’s kid friendly, etc.
The more views you get, the more you can charge a company for promotions. If you get 5 million views a video, a company could pay you anywhere from $50,000–$250,000 for a promotion. That’s what most big YouTubers do for money, as about 90% OF THEIR VIDEOS DON’T MAKE THEM MONEY DUE TO YOUTUBES FLAWED SYSTEM.
I hope this clears some things up!
