A friend of my wife and mine is a multi-millionaire. He & his wife have a 350-acre property with an 8,600 finished square foot house, along with a 4,100 square foot basement, which is built as a vault to hold his 384 pistols, rifles, shotguns, and revolvers in pretty much every caliber available, from .177 to .50, along with a few highly customized weapons, most of which are used for international shooting competitions.
Since he does competition shooting, reloads all his own ammunition and therefore has an entire 40-foot long wall consisting of 5 different reloading presses, brass, primers, powder, molds, and projectiles for each of the various calibers and types.
He also has a separate area outside where he melts down lead and copper so he can form his own exact projectiles to ensure 100% exacting standards for each caliber, and his own shooting range.
He and I were just talking the other day about how he will expand his current collection. He thinks he is going to go ahead and file for a permit to have automatic firearms and take them to The Big Sandy Shoot in Arizona next year.
I’m wanting to go with him.
I have done the research and am prepared to support you with full facts. Yes, there absolutely IS a maximum number of guns that a person can have in their home. Its LAW. The same applies to ammo. LAW. Because the law of physics only allows one object within a given space, there could eventually come a time where the home is unable to accommodate even one more gun. If you find yourself bringing in a gun and have to choose between a place to put it, and a place to sleep.. then you know its time to dig a bigger basement, or build a nice pole barn.
But we don’t like to talk about this subject much.
When I was a bachelor living in an apartment, a gun safe was impractical. And closets were…packed.
So I had 4 cased rifles under my bed.
When I was married and had kids, the gun safe was practical. I filled it.

Now that we are empty nesters, and less demands on my wallet…. I asked Senior Managment if I maybe could get a bigger gun safe to put a few more guns in?
Senior Management went all practical and rational (I hate when that happens), “Why do you need more guns? You hardly shoot the ones you have!”
So I bough a case of ammunition instead.
Keep up the good work asking anti-gun questions. It reminds us the haters lurk out there.
And to stock up on guns and ammo.
I will note that I am a typical redneck American gun nut. Work in technology, have couple degrees, bit over 800 books in my Kindle. Accuracy snob. Uninterested in anything rapid fire – hit with the first shot saves both time and ammo. Served in the reserves. Ready to protect the weak from predators – except we don’t even tolerate that here in the first place. Can’t remember how to skin a deer, its been years. Can build a campfire. live in the woods for a weekend on canteen of water and 3 trail bars, been even longer. Can remember how to train up youngsters on safe handling and excellent marksmanship, recent as last week.
