Which breed of dog can kill a lion?

It is not possible for any dog breed to kill a lion. This is a Tibetan mastiff, one of the largest and strongest dog breeds on earth:

And this is an African Lion:

As you can see, the mastiff is pretty big, but the lion is much bigger. To put it simply, the dog would get mauled by the lion 10/10 times. It lacks the size, strength, intelligence, killer instinct and weaponry of an African Lion. Hope this helps.

The Rhodesian Ridgeback was bred to defend livestock from lions.

That does not mean that this breed of dog “kills” lions.

Southern Africa, once called Rhodesia by the Dutch Colonizers (invaders), was a place the Dutch wanted to raise cattle and sheep. But they had a problem with African Lions raiding their herds and flocks.

So they did what Live Stock owners everywhere do, they looked to dogs for protection and herding.

The Dutch “Afrikaners” as they were called, took a native African cattle herding dog and crossbred this dog with well known dog breeds such as they Grey Hound, the Great Dane, and the Blood Hound.

The result was the Rhodesian Ridgeback, so called because of the backwards facing stripe of hair along the spine. The Ridgeback is also known as a Lion Dog, but this is not because they are known to kill lions.

The Ridgeback is a very brave, loyal and tough dog and very pack oriented. When grouped together in a pack, (3 or more dogs) they have been known to fight off lions that are stalking a herd or a home.

That is how they got the name and reputation “Lion Dog” and it is for that purpose the breed was created.

Personally I think no dog can kill a lion alone.

But yes we have few dog breeds like rotwiller, pit bull and bhutia dog.. they can fight with lion but alone they can’t win.

I have seen the Bhotia dog in our Village. They are extremely dangerous.

The Himalayan Sheepdog, also referred to the Bhote Kukur or Bhotia, is a livestock guardian dog that originated from Nepal.

Tibetan Mastiff is a large Tibetan dog breed. Originating with the nomadic cultures of Tibet, China, India, Mongolia and Nepal, it is used by local tribes of Tibetans to protect sheep from wolves, leopards, bears, large mustelids, and tigers.

Do you think so any dog can dare to kill 190+kg lion or lion will bother.. lol

the roar. It is one of the loudest calls in the animal kingdom and can be heard from up to 8km away. … Lions roar to tell other lions where they are, to show how big they are and to warn lions from other prides to keep away from their home territory.

lion is called a ‘king of beasts’ obviously for a reason.
