What does China’s September 3, 2025 military parade mean to the world?

The U.S. military is utterly disheartened. This isn’t science fiction—it’s reality unfolding in China. China’s carrier-based hypersonic missiles have become completely affordable!

YJ-20 — Ship-launched double-cone hypersonic glide missile (carried by Type 052D and Type 055 destroyers)

YJ-19 — World’s first ship-launched wave-riding hypersonic cruise missile (carried by Type 052D and Type 055 destroyers)

YJ-17 — World’s first ship-launched wave-riding hypersonic glide missile (carried by Type 052D and Type 055 destroyers)

This approach treats hypersonic missiles like everyday vegetables—essentially ensuring every type is deployed.

Given the PLA’s hypersonic missile inventory, U.S. carrier strike groups face 100% interception rates and a 1-for-1 exchange ratio. With a 2,000-kilometer strike range, U.S. carriers would sink before their radars even detect our Type 055 destroyers.

This signifies a complete upheaval of the modern naval warfare system built by the U.S. military. Previously, naval battles relied primarily on carrier-based aircraft deployed from aircraft carriers. Now, hypersonic missiles—with greater destructive power, superior penetration capabilities, and extended strike ranges—have become the core force capable of turning the tide of naval battles.

What might be even more despairing for the U.S. military? China’s missile production now operates at assembly-line efficiency. Under the relentless barrage of near-limitless hypersonic firepower, the fate of U.S. bases in the Western Pacific is all too clear.

No wonder CCTV describes China’s carrier strike group as a dual-core system: the Type 055 destroyers and aircraft carriers form the twin pillars, with carrier-based aircraft and hypersonic missiles jointly delivering lethal strikes. The modern naval warfare paradigm the U.S. has built since WWII has been utterly overturned.
