Where is the biblical Israel located?

THE BIBLE’S DEEP, DARK, DIRTY SECRET
The bible has a deep, dark, dirty secret that you will never hear from your priest, pastor or favorite christian apologist…

The biblical god Yahweh broke his unconditional promise to Abraham in Genesis 15:18-21 (text provided herein) that Abraham and his descendants would possess ALL the land in the map above.

The land being promised was given very specific borders: the Nile to the west and the Euphrates to the east.

This land is called the Promised Land because it was promised, without conditions, to Abraham.

And it was to be an “eternal possession,” for all time.

However, there was a slight complication due to primitive iron chariots, which Yahweh was unable to defeat. Yahweh was “with” the tribe of Judah and did his best, as the bible admits, but failed miserably:

And the Lord was with Judah; and he drave out the inhabitants of the mountain; but could not drive out the inhabitants of the valley, because they had chariots of iron. (Judges 1:19)

In the comments christian apologists have tried to claim that god gave the vast bulk of the land to the descendants of Ishmael and only a tiny sliver of land to his chosen people. Not only does that make no sense, but the biblical god commanded the extermination of all non-Israelite inhabitants of the Promised Land, including children, toddlers, infants, babies and their mothers.

According to the bible, Moses was aware of this commandment to “utterly destroy” the inhabitants of the Promised Land:

But thou shalt utterly destroy them; namely, the Hittites, and the Amorites, the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites; as the Lord thy God hath commanded thee. (Deuteronomy 20:17)

The tribes to be exterminated via genocide are identified in ten different bible verses: Genesis 15:21, Exodus 3:8, Exodus 3:17, Exodus 13:5, Exodus 23:23, Numbers 13:29, Deut. 7:1, Deut. 20:17, Joshua 3:10, Joshua 12:8.

With ten verses, there can be no mistake about the bible’s genocidal prime directive.

Thus we know god was obviously not “giving” the land to other tribes.

Rather, he was commanding that the natives be wiped out, to the last soul.

Do christians ever read their bibles?

Amusingly, it wasn’t just iron chariots that defeated an allegedly all-powerful god. The Israelites were able to take some mountains, but not the most important mountain of all:

As for the Jebusites the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the children of Judah could not drive them out; but the Jebusites dwell with the children of Judah at Jerusalem unto this day. (Joshua 15:63)

Yahweh was with the great heroes Joshua and David when they went to war with Jebusites, but they were thankfully unable to complete their prime directive.

This tells us that either the biblical god is nonexistent or not all-powerful, or that human beings made up the “promise” and the “prime directive.”

Or both.

While as usual christian apologists have tried to wriggle out of what the bible so clearly and definitively says, in his promise god not only gave the geographic borders of the Promised Land, but he also named the tribes to be erased and displaced, which I have noted below. Thus we have two forms of confirmation: the geography and the tribes to be utterly destroyed.

The land promised unconditionally and eternally to Abraham and his descendants in Genesis (15:18-21) included:

  • Israel
  • Canaan (the lands of the Canaanites, Perizzites and Jebusites promised to Abraham)
  • Jordan (the lands of the Amorites promised to Abraham)
  • Syria (the lands of the Amorites, Rephaims and Girgashites promised to Abraham)
  • Turkey (the lands of the Hittites promised to Abraham)
  • Saudi Arabia (the lands of the Kenites, Arabian Desert dwellers)
  • Oman
  • Yemen
  • Kuwait
  • Qatar
  • United Arab Emirates
  • and large chunks of Egypt, Sudan, Eritrea and Iraq.

Take just one example: in Genesis (15:18-21) the land of the Hittites was promised to Abraham. This is a map of the Hittite Empire, which included nearly all of modern-day Turkey:

Take another example. At the time of Abraham when god promised him the land of the Amorites, the Amorites controlled vast territories (the green region in the map below).

These Amorite territories include modern-day Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria and Iraq.

So anyone who tells you the Promised Land was the tiny sliver of land called Israel is not being honest about the enormous promise made to Abraham.

The vast empire promised unconditionally to Abraham was to stretch from “the river of Egypt” (the Nile) to the Euphrates. The borders of this Promised Land begin in the northeast with the headwaters of the Euphrates in southern Turkey and extend to where the Euphrates empties into the Arabian Sea, which forms the southern border. The territory extends to the Nile in the West. This can clearly be seen in the opening image.

If the biblical god had kept his promise to Abraham, the Israelites would have controlled the world’s richest nation, due to vast oil reserves.

But neither the Israelites nor the Jews have ever possessed all of Canaan, much less the vast territory in the maps above.

Either god lied and can’t be trusted, or human beings made up the “promise” and the bible is a human-created pack of lies.

You can probably guess which way I’m leaning.

The “prophesy” was downscaled later — much later — in the book of Numbers, which was written more than a thousand years after the time of Abraham by Levite scribes who knew how the Israelites kept getting their asses kicked by larger, more powerful tribes.

We see the same thing happening with the promises of “god” (i.e., the Levites) to King David and his heirs. First, the Levites had “god” vow unconditionally that David would always have an heir on the throne of Israel. Later, when the kingdom of Israel vanished completely, that promise was massively downgraded to David always having an heir on the throne of the tiny province of Judah. But even that promise quickly proved false. The last Davidic king of Judah was Zedekiah. The Babylonian destruction of Jerusalem in 586 BC ended the Davidic monarchy forever.

Amusingly, the Levites also had “god” (i.e., themselves) vow that they would always offer sacrifices “continually” in the Jerusalem temple. But the temple was destroyed in 586 BC, then a second time, after Herod the Great rebuilt it, by the Romans in 70 AD.

Whenever human beings pretend to speak for “god” they are bound to make asses of themselves, and we see that happening in the bible over and over and over again.

It also bears noting that if an all-powerful god “gave” the Promised Land to the Israelites, they shouldn’t have had to fight and die to take it, nor to commit acts of genocide as the bible claims they did. However, archeologists and historians inform us that this is yet another biblical lie. There is no evidence of a military takeover of Canaan at the time of Moses, Joshua and Caleb. The famous walls of Jericho fell long before the bible’s nonhistorical timeline. There was no Exodus, only badly-told ancient fairytales.

GOD’S (OR THE LEVITES’) PROMISE TO ABRAHAM IN GENESIS 15:18-21

In the same day the Lord made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates:

The Kenites, → Arabian Desert dwellers; Hippolytus of Rome in his Chronicon appears to identify the Kinaidokolpitai of central Arabia with the biblical Kenites.
and the Kenizzites, → Unsure, possibly modern-day Syria.
and the Kadmonites, → Unsure, possibly modern-day Syria.
and the Hittites, → Nearly all of modern-day Turkey.
and the Perizzites, → Canaan
and the Rephaims, → Modern-day Syria.
and the Amorites,→ Modern-day Israel, Jordan, Syria and Iraq.
and the Canaanites, → Israel never conquered and held the land of the Edomites, Moabites, Ammonites, et al., in modern-day Jordan.
and the Girgashites, → Modern-day Syria.
and the Jebusites → Amusingly, the bible admits that even the great genocidal heroes Joshua and David were unable to wipe out the Jebusites and had to learn to live with them.
